NJ OWL's Annual Meeting and Wild Thanksgiving Dinner was held on November 10th, and this year's event re-affirmed why this is one of the most anticipated and enjoyed on the organization's calendar.

In addition to addressing some of the business concerns of NJ OWL, the evening included a feast of wild and domesticated fare that was procured and prepared by organization members.

What was on the menu this year? Deep-fried wild turkey, caribou surprise, rabbit cacciatore, antelope chili and other dishes.

A silent auction was held to help raise money to run NJ OWL programs.

One of the highlights of the evening was "The Year in Review," which was a slide presentation that looked back on the educational opportunities that NJ OWL offered in 2003. The organization's by-monthly presentations ranged from topics about wildlife damage control, stream restoration, and New Jersey's black bears, to managing your property for wildlife and volunteer opportunities with field research. Educational field events included learning about ice fishing, bird identification, pheasant hunting, paddling, camping, and backpacking.

Finally, but most importantly, the evening honored the generous individuals who volunteer their time and expertise to educate members about wildlife and wildlife inspired pursuits. These very knowledgeable and dedicated individuals are the core of NJ OWL's educational programs. Without them the ability of the organization to expose the public to the richness and beauty of our wildlife resources, and to foster a commitment to their wise management would not be possible. For that they have our most sincere and perpetual appreciation.

Happy and content from the sumptuous meal, and reveling in the memories from the year gone by, we look forward to the new learning opportunities that await the organization in 2004.
