NJ OWL field events are only open to members. This does not include children or guests - sorry! Meetings are open to everyone!

As has been mentioned in the minutes for several months, NJ OWL will be severely cutting back on programs during 2008 as we re-organize and plan for the organization’s future. We will continue to have meetings and hope to have a basic schedule of field activities, though greatly reduced compared other years.

Please be advised, if you encourage people to join NJ OWL, or are considering joining yourself, do so with this situation in mind.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Signing up for NJ OWL educational field events (denoted by "(+)" in front of the listing) requires that members pay a $15 registration fee made out to NJ OWL which will be returned to the member after attending the event. Fees from members who sign-up for an event and ultimately are unable to attend will be deposited into NJ OWL's account. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS, INCLUDING ILLNESS, DEATH IN THE FAMILY, CAR BREAKDOWNS OR ANY OTHER REASON.
Sign-up deadlines will be observed. Include a phone number with all correspondence.

(+) Saturday, May 17 (Rain Date May 24) – Garret Mountain Spring Migrants with Mike Bisignano. 6am, Passaic County. Exact meeting place TBA.
Arguably the best spot in northern New Jersey for spring migrants, Garret Mountain traditionally has offered high diversity and large numbers of warblers, flycatchers, vireos, and other types of birds. Just about anything is possible! This will be an early am walk that will go for about 4 hours or so. Participants will need a binocular, and although most of Garret is high and dry, folks need to wear good, waterproof and sturdy hiking shoes as we will be on our feet all day. Those who do not have a binocular should let Cathy know so she can try to provide one for you to borrow.

Cost: FREE! ($15 registration fee refunded after participation in the event.) Sign up by May 3. Contact wolgast@aesop.rutgers.edu.
